At Joseph Banis Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of non-surgical anti-aging therapies to treat a wide range of aesthetic concerns. Under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Joseph C. Banis, Jr. and Dr. Angela Prescott, and board-eligible plastic surgeon Dr. Blake Sparks, our extremely knowledgeable staff will evaluate your areas of concern during your initial consultation. If you are a healthy candidate for Deka DOT, we will then go over the details of your personalized procedure so you know exactly what to expect.

How Does the Deka DOT Laser Work?

As a CO2 laser, the Deka DOT is among the strongest laser treatments available. It uses a concentrated beam of light energy to penetrate through the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and into the dermis (the layers underneath). The heat generated by this process stimulates the body’s production of collagen, creating renewed, smoother, tighter, brighter skin tissue.

The other key word when it comes to the Deka DOT procedure is “fractional.” This means that, rather than removing the entire epidermis in the treatment area, we are creating microscopic columns in a honeycomb-like pattern. By leaving some dermal tissue intact between these columns, the body is able to heal itself much quicker.

How Long Will It Take to See My Results?

The initial effects from a Deka DOT session are typically some temporary redness or swelling, but most patients feel comfortable returning to work after about a week. Full benefits often continue to develop over the following two to three months. You may need more than one appointment to experience your desired results.

Deka DOT vs. Other Laser Treatments

At our Louisville med spa, we have two other types of laser devices: Moxi and Sciton BBL/Hero. However, these have different skincare applications.

If you have milder blemishes and don’t need the aggressiveness of Deka DOT therapy, we may recommend Moxi. The Moxi device is used to target earlier signs of aging and sun damage with minimal downtime. It’s frequently selected by patients who want to maintain their skin’s smoothness without undergoing more intensive treatments.

On the other hand, Sciton BBL/Hero involves the use of broadband light (BBL) that is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood vessels and melanin pigment in the skin. The result is significant tone and texture improvements when it comes to hyperpigmentation, redness, and vascular lesions.
